Great Casting Shines at the 9th Annual AACTA International Awards

Casting Networks

Casting Networks® attended the 9th Annual AACTA International Awards, which honors the year’s best international films and filmmakers, at the Mondrian Los Angeles on Friday, January 3rd. Casting Networks is committed to celebrating and amplifying the work of amazing filmmakers from all over the world, so we were extremely excited to take part in the ceremony.

Hosted by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, the AACTA International Awards aim to add a uniquely Australian voice to the international awards circuit, paying tribute to their favorite films, directors, writers, and actors from all over the world.

This year, Adam Driver took home the award for Best Lead Actor for his captivating performance in Marriage Story, and Saoirse Ronan won Best Lead Actress for her charming portrayal of Jo March in Little Women. Australian native Margot Robbie took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for Bombshell, while Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino made Once Upon a Time in Hollywood the big winner of the night, taking home Best Supporting Actor and Best Director, respectively.

Taika Waititi gave a moving speech as he accepted his first-ever AACTA award for Best Screenplay (Jojo Rabbit), and to end the night, the Best Film award went to Parasite and writer/director Bong Joon Ho, who accepted the award with lead actor Kang-ho Song.

This event accompanied the 9th Annual AACTA Awards Industry Luncheon — recognizing the year’s best Australian filmmakers and artists — which Casting Networks also attended in Sydney, Australia in late 2019.

Congratulations to all of this year’s nominees and winners! We look forward to taking part in future AACTA Awards and events, and celebrating the amazing work these artists do every day.
