Data Bites: Chief Financial Officer Edward Farias

Casting Networks

The Data Bites lunch & learn series is a company-sponsored monthly event offering Casting Networks employees an opportunity to learn more about the business of entertainment and technology during their lunch hour, featuring special guest moderators for the interviews.

This month, actress Beth Littleford interviewed Casting Networks’ Chief Financial Officer Edward Farias. Littleford is known for projects such as Crazy Stupid LoveDesperate Housewives, and Frazier, and is the voice of the current Aflac insurance campaign.

Edward Farias is Chief Financial Officer for Casting Networks and its associated brands. He is responsible for all global Finance & Accounting as well as advancing the company’s financial infrastructure, supporting strategic direction and identifying future potential growth strategies with the executive team.

With more than two decades of financial management experience with global companies, Farias has worked with numerous entrepreneurial ventures in a variety of different market segments, including serving as CFO for LRW, a top-five independent Market Research and Insights consultancy, and Kantar Added Value North America (a WPP company, the largest global media holding company).

Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Finance of boutique Santa Monica-based full-service advertising agency, Colby & Partners.  He served in various financial roles for Burson-Marstellar, a multi-national Public Relations firm, as well as an independent Finance Consultant.

His advice to his 18-year-old self? Start failing — the sooner the better! “I didn’t realize until later in my career that it’s okay to fail,” says Farias. “You don’t start learning until you start failing.”

Farias enjoys the freedom and opportunity for growth that comes with working at Casting Networks, and he’s grateful for his dedicated team. He resides in Studio City, CA with his wife Dana and 5-year-old daughter Emme.
