Women Techmakers is a global Google program led by a team passionate about empowering women in technology through increased visibility, community, and resources. Every March, this program hosts summits in celebration of International Women’s Day, with a total of twenty summits this year. The summits are a mix of speakers, workshops, and networking, with a focus on honoring the contributions of women to the tech industry and the world.

Elise Shehram, Casting Networks’ Senior Director of Application Engineering, spoke at the Los Angeles summit on March 18th, held at the Google Corporate campus in Venice, CA. Shehram recognized her successes in her career, but acknowledged the importance of the challenges she faced as well. “An incredible challenge that’s been really rewarding to overcome, is learning to trust my instincts,” said Shehram. Learning to trust her instincts has been one of the most ambitious and crucial practices in her career.

Shehram is a technology industry veteran with over 20 years combined hands-on and leadership software engineering experience. This includes seven years as a web developer at Disney, and over two years as Manager and Senior Director of Engineering at FastPay. Shehram leads all front-end development at Casting Networks, and is the technical product owner of the Consumer and Representative development teams. She is passionate and dedicated to her team, and to implementing modern, lightweight maintainable software solutions while balancing organizational goals. Shehram’s commitment to creating technology industry opportunities for underrepresented groups made her a perfect fit to speak at the Women Techmakers summit.
